LEITA is a music discovery site. You can explore and share a Sound Map without signing in. LEITA does not sell personal information. You can delete your account and its attached maps from Settings.
What LEITA stores
Only if you sign in:

A Sound Map stores the artist names you entered and the resulting map graph. When Last.fm maps are enabled, LEITA sends those artist names and available MusicBrainz IDs to Last.fm for public search, similarity and artist listener-count results. Apple Music may receive artist names or catalog IDs for catalog details. These requests use LEITA's server credentials; they do not include your music account, listening history or library.
Usage counts
LEITA counts visits using a one-way hash. For signed-in visitors it is based on the LEITA account id and stays the same across days. For everyone else it is based on the request's IP address and browser description and changes daily. LEITA does not store those raw values in the visitor-count table; visitor rows are deleted after 400 days. It also keeps daily totals of maps made, images saved, links shared and opened, without map or visitor identifiers. There are no ads, analytics scripts or tracking pixels.
Sound Maps you share
A Sound Map made from artists you type is saved with those artist names so its link keeps working. Anyone with the link can see the map and its image. Anonymous maps expire after 90 days. A map made while signed in is tied to that LEITA account and is deleted when you delete the account.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in; it is removed when you log out. Signing in with Apple sets two short-lived cookies, for at most ten minutes, to check the answer came from the sign-in you started. LEITA sets no cookies for visitors who don't sign in.
Services LEITA talks to
- Google and Apple, only if you sign in with them.
- Resend delivers sign-in emails, so it receives your address when you ask for a link.
- Apple Music, for charts and, when configured, Sound Map catalog details, artist matches, artwork and available song previews. LEITA sends artist names and catalog ids, not your account information.
- Last.fm, for public discovery charts, for your public scrobbles if you connect your Last.fm username, and, only when Sound Map maps are enabled, artist search, similar artists, artist listener counts and track metadata. LEITA sends artist names and available MusicBrainz IDs, not your account information. Last.fm track metadata does not include playable previews.
- ListenBrainz, only if you connect it: LEITA reads the public listens of the username you give it. Its cover art comes from the Cover Art Archive, which your browser contacts to show album covers in your history.
- Configured community chart feeds, for public discovery charts.
- Google Fonts serves the site's typeface, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads.
- PayPal, only if you choose to support LEITA.
- Railway hosts the site and its database in the United States.
Keeping and deleting
Settings can clear your listening history at any time, and can delete your account and sign-in methods; maps, listening history and Listen Later items attached to that account are deleted in the same operation. Anonymous maps expire after 90 days. Email sign-in records are deleted a day after their links expire, and visitor rows are deleted after 400 days. Daily aggregate map totals are retained without account or map identifiers.
Children
LEITA is not meant for anyone under 13, and does not knowingly store data about them.
